What is a "Last Dollar" Scholarship?

A T3 Last Dollar Scholarship covers any remaining tuition costs after all Pell grants and/or other federal, state, or institutional aid have been applied. In other words, last dollar scholarships cover the gap -- any last dollars needed to cover the student's tuition.

Housing, books, and other fees are not included.

What is a "First Dollar" Scholarship?

T3 First Dollar Scholarships are awarded to T3 Scholars who 1) graduate from a Fort Worth ISD high school; 2) who enroll in a partner university; 3) who meet family income thresholds; and 4) who complete TSIA requirements.

Effective Fall 2022, all eligible students will receive a $500 per year scholarship for up 4 years. First dollar scholarships are applied before any other financial aid is applied and disbursed directly to the student, not through his/her university. The amount does not change even if the student receives other state, federal, or institutional aid.

First Dollar Scholarships at T3 Partner Universities

T3 Scholars graduating from a Fort Worth ISD high school are eligible to receive a First Dollar Scholarship to a T3 partner university for up to 4 years, if all criteria are met and renewal requirements are maintained. To be eligible, the student's family must meet the required income thresholds.

Here's what you need to know:

  • There is not a separate application process for the T3 First Dollar Scholarship. When you submit your admission application and supporting financial aid documents to a T3 partner university, the institution's Financial Aid team will review your material to see if you are eligible.
  • Different than T3 Last Dollar Scholarships, First Dollar Scholarships are disbursed directly to you so you can use these dollars for any remaining academic expenses such as books or emergencies that may arise.
  • At the beginning of every fall and spring semester (up to 4 years), you will receive $250 deposited directly to your bank account. The account must be in your name.
  • Don't have a bank account? No worries! T3 has partnered with JPMorgan Chase to help you setup a FREE College Chase Account or we can deposit your scholarship to another account with a different banking provider. The account must be in your name.
  • Eligible students are contacted by email starting in June. Participation in a mandatory information session is required the summer before scholars' first semester in college.
  • To remain eligible, you must remain in good academic standing at your university.
